Mayor's Prayer Breakfast - Monday, September 6 - 8:00 am
Mark your calendars for the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on Monday, September 6 at 8:00 am at the Zion-Benton Township High School, South Cafeteria. The Zion Benton Ministerial Association took it upon themselves to sponsor this event, so please support them in their efforts. Tickets are available in the church office for $10.00 each.

Moody Bible Institute Distance Learning
Moody Distance Learning, an extension of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, would like to partner with local churches to train future leaders and faithful witnesses. They need our help to get the word out about the Moody classes, especially the college degree program. Those going to college or those interested in a college degree can build a strong Christian foundation with Moody Bible courses. For more information, phone 312-329-2089 or visit www.moody.edu/rc or email them at rc-assistant2@moody.edu.

Incoming Seventh Graders:
Incoming seventh graders join the junior high youth group on Monday, July 26 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the youth room.

Fifth Annual Back-to-School Paintball - Saturday, August 21
All seventh through twelfth grade students, their parents and youth group staff are invited to join us for a day of paintball at Promised Land Paintball Park on Saturday, August 21. The cost is $55 per person and includes 500 paintballs, CO2 refills, gun and mask rental and lunch. Sign up in the youth room or by email to Pastor Leo at lbarnes@ccczion.org.

A Great Way to Help Our Youth!
One simple way you can help send students to camp is to donate cases of Pepsi, Diet Coke, Mountain Dew, Sunkist, Sprite or Dr. Pepper to the CCC youth ministry. These donations then double the profit from each can of pop sold, enabling more students to attend fall and winter camp sessions. Feel free to drop off your donations in the church office anytime! Your donations have a very real outcome--in October, the Youth Ministry took 54 students to Camp Zion for fall retreats--18 of those students would have been unable to attend the retreats without full or partial scholarships provided by the generosity of people like you! In these rough economic times, our scholarship requests are up significantly from past years and your continued donations are greatly appreciated!

We Need Your Email Address
Parents of 7th graders and all other students and parents: If you are not already receiving the youth newsletter, please send your email address to Leo at lbarnes@ccczion.org so that we can get you on the mailing list. The newsletter is a monthly publication that includes the coming month's schedule of events, articles for parents and other information.

Teaching English as a Second Language
Are you interested in teaching English? The ESL program is looking for people who want to teach two days per week mornings or evenings. You don't have to be a teacher or speak Spanish. There is an opportunity to help in the nursery as well. If you can help, please contact Pastor Eliel at erojas@ccczion.org.

Cleanliness Is Next to Godliness?
Are you concerned about disease being spread among our nursery children? Would you be willing to help serve our youngest children by cleaning the toys in our nurseries once or twice a year? Come and be a part of the team of people dedicated to this task on a rotating basis. For more information, contact Heather Streid at nursery@ccczion.org.

Save Your Stamps!
Alliance Stamp Ministry has raised over a half a million dollars for missions work by collecting canceled stamps from all over the world! If you would like to assist with this wonderful ministry effort, start saving your canceled stamps and turn them into the church office from time to time. Cut carefully around the stamp, leaving at least a 1/2" border of envelope attached--please do not soak stamps off the envelopes.

Help Provide Meals
Do you have a caring heart? Do you consider yourself somewhat “gifted” in the kitchen and hold a deep desire to serve others but just don’t know where to start? Then consider adding your name to our list of those willing to provide an occasional meal for someone facing serious illness or recuperation in our church family! You can sign up at the Welcome Center today, or call the church office at 847-746-1411 and speak to Katy or Jan.

The House That Grace Built
Each year, the Lake County Jail releases approximately 1,080 women back into our community. A random re-entry survey of 100 women found that 76 women were identified as needing housing, 34 women were classified as homeless and 59% did not have a high school diploma. Without intervention, these ladies will return to the streets doing drugs and prostitution to survive. The House That Grace Built provides intervention at the critical time of being released from jail. It provides them with options that include a safe place to live, job and office skills training, personal and spiritual growth and development, parenting skills, financial management and coping skills that will allow them to become self-sufficient and independent of the welfare system. They are starting this house from "scratch" and have nothing, so they are urgently in need of ANY household goods from furniture to food. If you can help in any way or would like more information, please contact Debbie Gonzalez at 847-208-5615 or visit their website at http://www.thehousethatgracebuilt.com.

Transportation Needs at CCC:
There are a number of people who would appreciate a ride to church on Sundays. They would need to be picked up at their homes for the worship service and then dropped off after church. If we have enough people showing an interest, you would be able to work in pairs -- one drive to pick up and the other to take home. You do not need a commercial driver's license to drive the van. Please contact the church office if you would be willing to help.

Won't you consider becoming an occasional driver for those in our church family who need transportation to and from doctor's appointments, grocery stores and local errands. There is such a great need with very few volunteers to help out during the day. Please call the church office to sign up and help make the new year easier for those in need of transportation.

Teen MOPS needs female drivers who are willing to pick up one or two teen moms who need a ride to the library in order to attend Teen MOPS meetings. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm.

Have a Friendly Smile and a Welcoming Heart?
Maybe you'd like to serve our body as a Baker/Taker. this important ministry helps spread the welcoming love of God by providing baked goods for local guests to our church. You can help by baking a fresh loaf of bread or a batch of baked goods and simply dropping it off at a guest's home with a smile, letting them know we're glad they visited. Or perhaps you can't visit, but can provide baked goods for a "Taker" - you are needed too! Baker/Takers service about once a month. If you are interested, please contact the church office.
