Sermon ‘Crumbs’ In worship we’ll read two paragraphs from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, but Pastor Ken will preach from the second of these only: Matthew 5:43-48.  The first paragraph, verses 38-42 are similar in theme, and similarly hard to put into practice.  It helps to know that Jesus uses hyperbole in this section of the sermon, and that his instructions do not give evildoers a blank check, as if we never take any kind of stand against evil.  But still, his call to not repay evil for evil is hard. For help in understanding these hard sayings, see John Stott’s excellent commentary on the Sermon on the Mount.

I (Pastor Ken) think this story is worth seeing again…
