Sermon Crumbs In today’s text, the Apostle Paul expresses his ongoing amazement that God not only converted him but graciously commissioned him as an apostle. Indeed, Paul plays a unique role in the history of redemption: he, more clearly and more prominently than any other NT apostle or prophet, proclaims the unanticipated good news of Gentile inclusion in God’s new community.  Paul is so grateful and staggered that he has this privilege, he invents a word (used only here) to express his sense of unworthiness.  Where the NIV reads “I am less than the least of all God’s people” in verse 8, Paul’s Greek could be translated “leaster!”
