The youth ministry of CCC exists to partner with parents in raising up the next generation of Jesus followers through recreation, education, service, and leadership development.  If you have any questions about our ministries, please do not hesitate to contact Youth Pastor Leo Barnes, at lbarnes@ccczion.org.

Junior High

Junior High is an awesome age!  It is at this age that most young men and women begin to ask deep questions, to think more critically and to build deep friendships.  It is our hope that the junior high youth ministry will help you, or your student, to do all three of these things well.

Junior High Youth Group

Junior High Youth Group is all about games, friends, growth and dodgeball.  These events, open to anyone in 7th or 8th grade, typically involve 45 minutes of games, 30 minutes of “devotions,” a variety of discussion and activities designed to help students make connections between God and their lives and 30 minutes of gym time, which often means dodgeball.  Youth group meets most Monday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm in the youth room.

 Sunday Morning Training

Designed for Christian students to go deeper in their understanding of their faith, our Sunday morning education program provides a 7th and 8th grade boys’ class and a 7th and 8th grade girls’ class.  These classes alternate years between a thorough Bible Instruction Course program one year and a year-long study of Christ from birth to ascension.  These courses are taught by some of our best staff, who thrive on helping students dig deep.  The classes meet from 9:00-10:10 am.  The boys meet in Room 8/10 and the girls meet in Room 13.

Senior High

The Senior High Youth Ministry is essentially a three-tiered system that provides a variety of students with a variety of experiences in which their lives and faith intersect.

  • The first tier is youth group, our main gathering on Sunday nights, in which students of any number of faith backgrounds gather together.
  • The second tier is Youth Bible Fellowship (YBF) on Sunday mornings, in which students who have made a commitment to following Jesus can grow together.
  • The third tier, intended for those students who are highly committed to growing in their faith, is the small group tier.

Senior High Youth Group

Senior High Youth Group meets almost every Sunday night from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the youth room.  A typical night includes approximately 45 minutes of games and competitions, followed by a 30-45 minute “devotional,” which varies from video series to group discussions to presentations from youth group staff or guest speakers as well as messages from Pastor Leo.  The evening then wraps up with refreshments and free time to play basketball, dodgeball, pool, or foosball, to participate in jam sessions with student musicians, to meet with our staff members or to simply hang with friends.  These evenings are open to anyone in 9th through 12th grade.

Small Groups

Small groups are single gender gatherings of no more than six to eight students and two staff who meet together throughout the school year to study Scripture and pertinent topics.  The smaller group and single gender environment allow for more personal discussion and are intended to take students deeper than any of our other events.  Most groups meet from 7:00-8:30 pm on Wednesdays at the church or in individual homes.

Youth Bible Fellowship (YBF)

YBF is a transition from the Sunday School programs of childhood into the Adult Bible Fellowship programs of adulthood.  It is intended for high school students who want to delve deeper into their faith together and includes time spent discussing Scripture, Christian living, apologetics and social issues from a Biblical perspective.  YBF is a discussion-driven environment in which students are challenged to think critically and defend their positions and also encouraged to ask thought-provoking questions.  It meets from 9:00-10:10 am in the youth room every Sunday morning.
