Mike McDowell

Pastor for Missions

My MinistryMy wife and I were missionaries in Indonesia and the Philippines for 14 years before joining the staff at CCC as Mission Pastor.  We have an unusually extensive mission program for a church our size which involves not only sending and supporting missionaries but also connecting with local congregations around the world.  We also have a unique connection with the amaZioni in Southern Africa.  This huge group of people trace their spiritual heritage back to CCC.  We play an active role in teaching the Bible to the amaZioni through our relationship with the Zion Evangelical Ministries of Africa (ZEMA).  I have a great personal relationship with the Executive Director of ZEMA.

My EducationI have earned graduate and undergraduate degrees at Moody Bible Institute, Western Bible College (Colorado Christian University), Dallas Theological Seminary and Oxford Graduate School.

My Family:  My wife Donna and I met at Moody Bible Institute were we were both students.  We both had a passion and calling for missionary service and that is what really brought us together.  We were on the same mission team doing an internship in West Africa and that’s when we knew that God was bringing us together to serve him.  We have been doing ministry together for more than 30 years now.  We have three great children who are all married and two grandchildren.

My Interests:  I have a real interest in making Zion a great place to live and I spend a lot of time serving our community.  I also feel the need to regularly inspect our local golf courses to make sure they are well maintained and playable.
