Leon Grubb

Director of Children’s Ministries

My Ministry I am the Director of Children’s Ministries.  My primary goal is to help parents in discipling their children to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.  There are three main areas where most of our children’s programs and activities fall: Sunday School, AWANA, and Vacation Bible School.  The Sunday school curriculum’s focus is God’s Sovereignty.  We want our children to know God’s greatness, our smallness, and our blessing in knowing our saving Lord.  AWANA helps the children to direct their energies towards memorizing God’s Word in smaller and gradually larger pieces.  Vacation Bible School (VBS) reaches out to our community.

My Education:  I have a Bachelor of Science double major in Elementary and Special Education from Bradley University.  This gives me the certification to work with elementary students from Kindergarten through ninth grade and special education students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade.  I have a Master of Arts Degree from Northeastern Illinois University in School Guidance and Counseling.

My family:  Much of my own extended family live within a 15-mile radius of my house.  What a joy to have them so nearby!  My wife is Judy. She has taught at Zion-Benton Township High School for 35 years.  Our daughter Elisabeth is married to Sean; they have one daughter, Jaina, and another one on the way!

My Interests:  I really love trains.  Ever since I was a boy, my grandfather got me interested in trains.  I have ridden on several old trains throughout the years in various parts of the country.  I enjoy sailing but have not done it since I was in college.  I have done some acting over the years with CCC’s Zion Passion Play and other productions that have played here at CCC.
