Registration Night & Leader’s Training – Monday, September 11, 6:30-8:00pm  This night is for: filling out registration forms, paying fees, taking pictures, picking up supplies and the schedule for the year.

First Club Night & Parent Meeting – Monday, September 18

Again this year the programs we are offering are:

            Cubbies (3-pre-K)

            Sparks (K-2nd grade)

            Truth & Training -T & T (3rd – 6th grade)

AWANA will meet 24-25 weeks (instead of 30-31 weeks).

Scripture Memorization:

Cubbies, Sparks, and T & T will be learning and memorizing one verse per week (a total of 24).  We’re hoping all the AWANA children will memorize all 24 verses. Those who memorize all 24 verses will receive an Award of Merit Medallion at the Awards Ceremony at the end of the year.  (Please note: the verses Cubbies memorize will be shortened – age appropriate.)

Council Time:

The focus will be on the night’s verse, giving clear understanding of what the verse means and how it applies to your children.  Leon Grubb will be teaching most of the lessons in exciting ways, as he always does.

Small Group Time:

Similar to handbook time, children will be in small groups with leaders.  There will be a time of interaction and prayer.  Following, all of the groups will come together for a short time of worship through singing (think VBS song & dance, Sovereign Grace music, etc.).

Challenge for Parents:

Hiding God’s word in your heart is not just for children.  Parents, we encourage you to memorize the 24 Scripture verses with your children.   Guess what – for parents who accept the challenge and memorize all 24 verses, you will also receive an Award of Merit Medallion at the awards ceremony at the end of the year.  (How cool is that!?  What a great way for families to memorize verses together!)

Parents, you are invited to attend Council Time with the Sparks.  Council time is 6:35 – 7:05.  This is not mandatory, but you are welcome to stay if you’re able.  The back rows will be reserved for you.

Timothy Award:

Families whose children want to work towards or complete their Timothy Award will be able to.  Parents, we are going to empower you by having you go through the Handbook with your child, listen to the verses, help your child understand the verse/s, and sign your child’s book.  More information and guidelines will be handed out at the Parent Meeting on September 18.  (We’re hoping parents will be excited about this.  For those who prefer to have an AWANA leader listen to their children’s verses – we’ll talk about this option at the Parent Meeting.)

If anyone is interested in helping as a leader this year please let me know.  You don’t have to commit to serving the entire AWANA year.  You can commit to just the first half or the second half.

Our goals this year are:

To honor God with our time, gifts, and talents

To extend the welcoming love of God to everyone coming to AWANA

To pray: “that all children and youth throughout the word will come to know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.” (AWANA Ministry goal)

To help the Cubbies, Sparks, and T &T clubbers memorize and understand the verses they learn

To be more relational with clubbers
