Pastor of Hispanic Ministries & Evangelism

RojasMy ministry: I serve as Pastor of Hispanic Ministries.  The main activities for this area are the English classes (ESL) and the Spanish ABF.  The English program offers classes in 4 levels twice a week.  Our teachers are volunteers from the congregation.  All our students are of Hispanic descent.  The Spanish ABF provides Bible teaching and fellowship in people’s native tongue, Spanish.  We usually study whole books of the Bible.  The Spanish group participates in the general worship service that is translated simultaneously using assisting aids for those who need translation.  My other responsibility is evangelism.  This includes coordinating “Greeters & Guides” and Bakers & Takers”.

 

My education: I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from the Bible Seminary of Mexico, a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Moody Graduate School and received training in Biblical Counseling from the Institute for Nouthetic Studies.

 

My family: Lori and I were married in 1999 and have three children:  Lorelle, Eliel Joseph and Adam Daniel.  All of them are really cute, thanks to the mother’s genes!

Mi Ministerio: Estoy sirviendo en el ministerio hispano. Las actividades principales de esta área son las clases de inglés (ESL) y el estudio bíblico en español, ABF. El programa de inglés ofrece clases en cuatro niveles dos días a la semana. Nuestros maestros son voluntarios de la congregación. Nuestros estudiantes son de descendencia latina. El estudio bíblico, ABF, provee la oportunidad de convivir y estudiar en la lengua materna, español, de los que asisten. Por lo regular estudiamos libros completos de la Biblia. El servicio general es en inglés y se traduce simultáneamente usando aparatos auditivos. Otra de mis responsabilidades en la iglesia es evangelismo. Este incluye la coordinación de “greeters and guides,” las personas que dan la bienvenida, y “bakers and takers,” que son las personas que visitan a quienes vinieron por primera vez al servicio.

 

Mi educación: Obtuve una licenciatura en teología del Seminario Bíblico de México, una maestría en estudios interculturales de la división de graduados del “Moody Bible Institute” en Chicago, y me capacité en Orientación Bíblica (Biblical Counseling) en el “Institute for Nouthetic Studies.”

 

Mi familia: Mi esposa, Lori, y yo nos casamos en 1999 y tenemos tres niños, Lorelle, Eliel Joseph, y Adam Daniel. Mis hijos están preciosos, ¡gracias a los genes de su madre!
