"An ABF is a community of adults committed to knowing and applying the Word together in a caring fellowship, working to bring about care, discipleship and outreach."
ADULT--This is not Sunday School!
An ABF is distinctively grown-up. The Sunday School movement of the early
1800s began as an alternate form of education and rapidly became a regular part
of church life. Eventually, it was adapted to adults but it never lost its
teacher/student structure.
So what's the difference?
ABFs are not centered around a teacher. They recognize the need that adults
have for input into their learning environment. They strive to express this
ideal in several ways:
BIBLE--We'll never leave this out!
The "B" stands for Bible and it's right in the middle of ABF. The first article
of our church's Declaration of Faith states that:
We believe the Bible to be the inspired
and only infallible, authoritative Word of God,
and our rule for faith and practice.
God's Word will always be at the very heart of why we do ABFs.
FELLOWSHIPS--A place and time to connect!
Look up Hebrews 10:23-25 and you'll find a picture of the Church where God's
people encourage and spur one another toward good deeds. In an ABF people...
In an ABF, you'll have the opportunity to receive and give the kind of love God wants his people to display. If you have questions about joining an ABF, please contact Pastor Jon Wiziarde at 847-746-1411 or email jwiziarde@ccczion.org.
All ABFs meet on Sundays at 9:00 am.
