Best-Selling Author and Speaker Jerry B. Jenkins to Address the Zion Community at the Mayor’s Annual Prayer Breakfast on September 5th

Zion, IL (August 15, 2011) – Author of more than 175 books with sales of more than 70 million copies, including the best-selling Left Behind series, Jerry B. Jenkins will be the featured key note speaker at this year’s Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on September 5, 2011.

 

The Breakfast

 

Every year the Zion community gathers at the Zion Benton High School to pray for city officials, civil servants, teachers and the community. This year, Mayor Lane Harrison, clergy members from local churches, Zion residents and supporters will gather at 8:00 am in the South Cafeteria at the high school. Jenkins will share a message centered on the theme for the day, “The God of Second Chances”.

 

In conjunction with the Zion Benton Ministerial Association (ZBMA), local churches to be represented.

 

Tickets are on sale at ZBMA churches for $10 if purchased before September 1st or $15 at the door.

Jerry has been awarded honorary doctorates from Bethel College (Indiana), Trinity International University (Illinois), Colorado Christian University, and Huntington University (Indiana).

 

Jenkins also assisted Dr. Billy Graham with his memoirs, Just As I Am, also a New York Times bestseller. Jerry spent 13 months working with Dr. Graham, and considers the project the privilege of a lifetime.

 

Jenkins’s non-fiction books include many as-told-to autobiographies, including those of Hank Aaron, Bill Gaither, Joe Gibbs, Orel Hershiser, Luis Palau, Meadowlark Lemon, Walter Payton,  Nolan Ryan, and Mike Singletary. The Hershiser and Ryan books reached The New York Times best-seller list.

 

Jerry owns Jenkins Entertainment, a filmmaking company run by his son Dallas, which produced the critically-acclaimed Hometown Legend, listed as one of the Top 10 family films of 2002 by Good News Communication’s MOVIEGUIDE. Jenkins Entertainment also produced Midnight Clear starring Stephen Baldwin, winner of the Special Jury Prize for “Best First Feature” at the 2007 Cinequest Film Festival.

 

What If… starring Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and John Ratzenberger (Cheers, Toy Story), Jenkins Entertainment’s latest feature, released to theaters in 2010.

 

Jenkins also owns the Christian Writers Guild (www.ChristianWritersGuild.com), which aims to train tomorrow’s professional Christian writers and has more than 1,000 members worldwide. The centerpiece of the Guild is an e-mail correspondence course tailored to fit the busiest adult lifestyle.
